You 3 Heroes start the game on the board. They have:
Skills (at the top top): allow them to play cards.
An attached quest (at the bottom): a quest that is automatically added to your deck. They are unique to each hero. When the quest is done, the hero receives the quest bonuses.
Actions are the most common card type in every deck.
Needs to be cast by a hero that can pay its cost (top left).
Items can be equipped on a hero, and will stay on the board for a permanent bonus.
There are 3 Item slots:
Weapon
Armor
Misc: anything else, like shields and spellbooks
If playing an item on a slot that is already in use, the previous item is removed.
If the item cost skills, the hero needs to pay its cost himself.
Advancing Quests will give resources to your heroes, mainly through extra Crystals. They have 3 to 4 steps.
The advance condition is either:
Defeat a Monster: needs to be dealt a certain amount of damage
Assemble a Combo: a combination of Skills that needs to be played in a single turn, through Action or Item cards.
Quests cost nothing to play.
When the game starts, one of your hero quests is put on the board, at random.
